James Graham has posted the first edition of the Carnival on Modern Liberty up on Liberal Conspiracy. It was, as James notes, a very busy week, leading to lots of great posts. Take a look at James’s slection here and submit your own posts for the next carnival which takes place on OurKingdom.

Have you got any posters we can stick up in village halls, noticeboards, pubs, shop and house windows? Visiting cards would be good too so people can copy it from their printers and hand them out to friends and aquaintances.
What about contacting every community hall and pub to get a screen up so it could be viewed by everyone throughout the day? For people who can’t afford to pay for tickets but want to be involved and informed?
What about contacting the British Legion and the Women’s Institute?
Viral campaigns don’t just have to be web based. We need the whole country to get involved, so use every single medium available to us.
Hi Bill, thanks for this. I take your point that a viral campaign doesn’t have to be web-based.
We hope to have some posters and flyers up on the website very soon for people to download.
And we’re looking into ways to project the Convention as widely as possible, technology and cost permitting.

The Carnival on modern liberty cannot be debated without mention of a Constituent Commission. This has already been mentioned by Baroness Kennedy in the media – which did not afford too much column inches to the matter. It is an excellent idea as it could provide the means whereby there is a complete clearout of the old corrupt party politics, inside and outside the Civil Service as well, and the introduction of a new system with fresh blood – none of the same old political headliners who would sell out their granny for a front page photo!
This has already been tried and has to date enabled the sacking of the age old political trough hoggers and forced through a completely new publicly debated constitution that was approved by a referendum – imagine that? The people get to have a say in a supposed third world country even – democracy that certainly beats the UK hands down!
The debated constitution would also mean that there would more than likely be a moratorium on any constitutional rights of the head of the Royal Family – other than having to go out and vote! There are also separate, independently elected, audit bodies set up from members of the public to ensure the independence of the newly elected National Assembly. An Assembly made up of individuals selected by various civil & public groups and duly elected by national vote!
This Assembly duly chosen and elected would then have the initial task of clearing out, or retraining, all the partisan members of the civil service who, as mentioned on other related pages, believe the public are to be commanded and conntrolled (intentional) at the whim of some immature malleable political Yuppie! There should be strict guidlines laid down for public office to indicate quite clearly that any allegiance other than to the public is not compatible with public office.
I am sure that with the intellectual capabilities of the public, academic and professional people within the UK that a National Assembly could be the true democratic government that we do not have today! These representatives would be a cross selection of public, social or peer group appointees elected or chosen based on a specified minimum number of publicly verifiable signatures, with standing MP’s being omitted unless receiving the appointment by way of the previously mentioned groups. Standing Political party nominations should not be accepted on the basis that they do not hold party referendums on candidates, trusting only the decisions of an executive committee who are not renowned for their objectivity or impartiality!
Lets face it the Financial debacle is not just a few banks being bailed out, it is a matter of Financial institutions with dubious off ledger transactions who conned the public in general out of a lot of money and then called upon their placed Government endorsers to fund those failings with even more public funds! Then have the audacity to go out and continue the purchase of a £50+ million executive Jet (RBS), then fund extortionate Xmas parties and million pound end of year bonuses?
Yet not one regulatory body noted anything amiss or intervened!
The Law of the country is being abused by the sharks aided by inept regulatory stooge bodies simply because there is no real government control. There is no public input/debate on laws before they are passed, nor statutory body enforcement even if there is covering legislation. A National assembly armed with the proper legislation along with publicly manned auditing bodies could ensure at the least that Financial institutions are properly regulated and audited. The same publicly manned auditory body could also control the National Assembly representatives and public service salaries and expenses including the NHS stooges.
These few words are only a small part of what, in my opinion only alas, is required if there is to be real freedom but a word of warning is also advised and that is the, according to the 1998 Human Rights act, subversive inclusion of the armed forces as a Public Authority! This means that Queenie could set her dogs of war on you for trying to debate these issues too seriously! So watch out for the Ministry of Dildoes stooges at your convention
Well that’s my pennyworth and I wish you all, the best for the convention and hope something positive comes out of it!
