    Harman’s selling point for biometric passports is the convenience for us as consumers, and ignores the intrusion it presents for us as (hopefully future) citizens.

    Harman argues that the DNA database is invaluable in prosecuting rape cases. So how does she square this with the fact that only 5% of all reported rapes in the UK actually result in a conviction? This is the lowest rate in Europe.
