We’ve just added the latest in our series of videos to the site. Dominic Raab, the author of ‘The Assault on Liberty’, says that we must keep questioning the claims made by the Government, as it attempts to take away rights and liberties.

Pity that Dominic Raab felt the need to preface his remarks by assuring us that he ventures into the street only with a metaphorical posy ‘neath his nose lest his lofty opinions be contaminated by those of the vulgar herd – the incorrigible lefties and the proponents of economic and social rights. If we follow his lead by disassociating ourselves from those of a different political hue, the Convention will end up as a facsimile of Westminster, with the debate narrowing, at best, to a search for tiny patches of common ground.
I hope that we will go with more open minds, that we will aim to look beyond the iniquities of individual pieces of authoritarian legislation towards exploring the weaknesses of a political system so open to abuse and so poorly representative of the British electorate.
