Guardian’s liberty central launched

Today saw the launch of the Guardian’s fantastic new site dedicated to civil liberties, liberty central.

Convention Co-Director Henry Porter’s blogs and articles will be a big part of liberty central alongside regular blogs and videos on the issues dealt with by the Convention in the run up to the day itself. Modern Liberty kicks off today with a video by 7/7 survivor Rachel North and a powerful article on control orders by Victoria Brittain. There’s also a handy A-Z of laws that affect civil liberties introduced by the Guardian’s legal correspondent Afua Hirsch and even a Liberty clinic where Liberty’s lawyers answer your civil liberties and human rights queries.

Liberty central is clearly going to be a fantastic resource for anyone concerned about attacks on fundamental rights and freedoms and there’s a helpful guide posted by comment editor Georgina Henry that takes you through the new site.

The Guardian team have done a brilliant job with liberty central and we’re very grateful for their support of the Convention.
